The definition of clinical insanity

Seems that not enough people have watched "Dr. Strangelove, or, How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb".

We have the chief of the U.S. military Strategic Command saying this:

Now, he [Air Force Gen. Kevin Chilton] said, the threat is different, thus the deterrent must also be more nuanced — ranging from nuclear warheads to conventional weapons and cybercapabilities. He said the existing warheads in the U.S. inventory today are “too big, bigger than they need to be.”

Our nukes are "too big". "[B]igger than they need to be". Wow.... Just wow....

Let it be stated for the record that the newspaper article had no mention of any follow-up question, such as, "Well, General, how big should they be, then? And why?"

I'd also note that the U.S. has "dialable yield" nukes right now (see here too); you just twist the knob, 3 Hiroshimas, 6 Hiroshimas, 20 Hiroshimas, what's your pleasure?
